Design methods for user involvement in service innovation.
The aim with this research project is to explore what happens when the professional design process and its methods are used for user involvement in early phases of service development. More specifically, what happens between the user and the company, and the company´s preparedness to include user ideas in their development when design competence is introduced.
The research project as such is a part of VINNOVA´s program ‘Service development and service innovation´. It was granted financing through the call ´Service innovation through increased customer involvement´ and is planned to run 2009-2011. The project is based at Business & Design Lab, BDL, in Gothenburg ,Sweden. BDL is a co-operation between The School of Arts and Crafts and The School of Business, Economics and Law at UniversityofGothenburg. The research project will work with one of Sweden´s oldest and most successful design consultants, and with a large industrial company with the roots in Swedish industrial history that now increasingly involves services in their offerings.
