Center of Visualization Göteborg is a membership organisation managed by Business Region Göteborg and Chalmers University of Technology. Center of Visualization Göteborg is one of three national Knowledge Arenas within the network VISARD, Visualisation - Arenas for Research and Development.
VISUAL FORUM has been held for the forth consecutive year. In comparison to earlier years the amount of delegates almost doubled this year, total of 330 delegates. By a close cooperation with Chalmers University of Technology the Nordic visualization conference was even able to double in length. The two days, Visual Forum and Chalmers Initiative seminar contained of 38 speakers, Swedish and International, even that a double up in relation to earlier years.

VISUALIZATION - A GLOBAL LANGUAGE
So for two days April 22-23 visualization was spoken at Filmstaden Bergakungen and Chalmers Campus Johanneberg in Göteborg. Delegates were a mix of people, from business, the visualization companies, the industry, academia, public and culture sector, with and an interest in visualization technology. The programme was comprehensive filled with speakers who represented a wide range of application fields for visualization technology, medicine, advertising, education and space projects among others. An academic focus on visualization and possible challenges for the technology were also discussed.
 
The conference was opened by prof Anders Ynnerman, the IT-personality of the year 2007, who gave an Keynote address on "Recent advances in medical visualization".

Next sessions were parallel, one with focus on Future Learning and how visualization can be a helpful tool. Among the speakers were Simon Egenfeldt-Nielsen from Serious Games Interactive, Denmark and Helen Routledge from PIXELearning, UK. The other parallel session had focus on Heavy Projects within visualization that has received funding and that are under development.

The Lunch Keynote Session was opened by the President of Chalmers University of Technology, Karin Markides an continued with Bob Sauls from John Frassanito & Ass who talked about strategic visualization that they provide NASA with.

After lunch the conference continued with parallel sessions, on with focus on Marketing & Creative Experiences and showed examples on how to use visualization as a tool for marketing. Among the speakers were Gustav Martner, Daddy Group and Simon Goldin and Jakob Senneby from Goldin+Senneby. The other session had focus on Virtual Manufacturing and showed examples on how cars can be built, ergonomic aspects can be testesd and verified and even on how cities can be planned. The speakers in this seminar represented booth traditional engineering companies but also software and gaming companies.

The last seminar on the 22:nd was on "Virtual Worlds and Future Internet". By using Virtual Worlds such as Entropia Universe and Second Life as examples the speakers showed on potentials and possibilities with virtual worlds.

The second day of the conference had an academic focus and discussed the topics Future Learning and Virtual Development. The day concluded with a workshop on "Visualizing Urban Futures"
