Center of Visualization Göteborg is a membership organisation managed by Business Region Göteborg and Chalmers University of Technology. Center of Visualization Göteborg is one of three national Knowledge Arenas within the network VISARD, Visualisation - Arenas for Research and Development.

Virtual Reality in the city planning process

February 28th approximately 80 people gathered at Lindholmen Science Park for an event hosted by Center of Visualization Göteborg. The focus this time was the building - and city planning process and visualization. The event was co-hosted with The City Building Authority (Stadsbyggnadskontoret) that demonstrated the new City Model in virtual reality.
The purpose was to increase the knowledge about how visualization tools can be used in the city building process among architects, property owners and construction companies.
 
Keynote speaker was Lars Ivarson, head of the City Building Authority in Göteborg, who shared his experiences of using Virtual Reality. Several cases were also presented throughout the day. For example how architects (and others) can use Sketchup, how Building Information Model (BIM) can be used to optimize the building processes with software from for example Archicad or Autodesk.
The event was also the starting point for the new Special Interest Group (SIG) for visualization, building and architecture.
