Center of Visualization Göteborg is a membership organisation managed by Business Region Göteborg and Chalmers University of Technology. Center of Visualization Göteborg is one of three national Knowledge Arenas within the network VISARD, Visualisation - Arenas for Research and Development.

Visualization Course at the University of Gothenburg

From fall 2011, it became possible to study visualization for an entire semester, first Introduction to visualization and then Visualization in architecture, art and design.
Visualization is a way to communicate with images which are used to explain changes to the urban environment, statistical relationships and medical procedures. It is an important tool that has great democratic and educational potential. This course provides an introduction to visualization and includes both theoretical and practical elements. Lectures on perceptual theory, visual theory and applications of visualization, interspersed with analysis exercises in seminars and labs where they work with both traditional drawing tools and using digital tools such as Flash and Google Sketchup. After the course you should:
  • Have a basic knowledge and understanding of the purpose and usefulness of visualization.
  • Be familiar with a few different areas in which visualization is used.
  • Have basic skills in analyzing visualizations.
  • Be able to perform a simple visualization using a digital tool.
