Urban Games

Urban games are part of Mistra Urban Futures and which constitutes one of five pilot projects, which all have different are related to the new Centre for Sustainable Urban Development. Urban game is about using games and visualization for understanding the city as a complex system. Games and visualization can be powerful tools for learning and communicate what a city is and should be. In this context, games and simulations are important to feature and highlight the issue of multiple audiences and from different perspectives.
An overall purpose is that the pilot project should be able to contribute to the development of Mistra Urban Future in terms of processes and tools to support communication and learning. The project also aims to:

• supporting and managing urban change: participation, communication, learning and decision support
• establishing an interface that can act a platform for cross border meetings in the form of games and simulations
• linking existing and future urban games and simulations that have a relevance to the topic
• provide the players and target groups with rich images of the city and ideas on urban development
• to generate results from gaming activities that can be understood and used by others
